Plagiarism 101

Hello class!  Today I am not in school but I have provided you with an assignment.  A brief introduction to plagiarism and completion of questions. I am thinking that the entire class needs a refresher on the topic of plagiarism.

1)  Go to the following link and take the tutorial developed by  Vaughan Memorial Library at Acadia University.

2)  Read Avoiding Plagiarism article from UC Davis, Div. of Student Affairs, Office of Student Judicial Affairs, September, 2006.

Blog Response Questions:  Please post this response to your blog as post title "Plagiarism 101", you may copy and paste the questions into your blog this will make it easier to respond. No this is not plagiarizing, I am giving you my permission to copy and paste.  Remember in your own words respond to the questions.
Part 1 (Tutorial Response)
1) Write down three key topics that you learned after completing the tutorial.
2) How can this help you with your academic work?

Part 2 (Article Response)
1)  What does the word plagiarism mean to you?  (I do not want to see the exact definition from the article)
2)  Why should you personally be concerned about plagiarism?
3)  After reading about avoiding plagiarism, think about how you could put some of these guidelines into practice in your current academic/elective classes?  Give three examples.
4)   Come up with your own example below of an original source (you could use the video textbook or Internet article)  and a Student A (plagiarism response) and Student B (correct response).
5) Why do you think that many students are using plagiarism in today's digital world?

I am only asking that you do the best that you can!
